Junction 2 - London's Most Forward Thinking Festival

21/05/19

It is the park’s beauty that makes the festival’s commitment to sustainability so important; far from simply using sustainability as an alluring buzzword to attract potential ticketholders, Junction 2 takes its responsibility to the environment seriously, fostering and strengthening bonds with local community groups and charities such as Friends of Boston Manor. Junction 2 embraces its surroundings, and their dedication to their venue and its locality ensures it keeps producing a great festival year after year.

Long sets from an incredible array of DJs and producers creates a wonderfully simple atmosphere perfect for electronic music enthusiasts. Among the most unmissable sets will be that of Detroit legend DJ Stingray, who will bring electro vibes at breakneck pace to The Warehouse on Friday, the same day that sees Call Super B2B Shanti Celeste The Woods, where upbeat grooves will be in abundance. The Woods will also play host to the raw magic of Sonja Moonear B2B Nicolas Lutz on the Saturday. These sets, in addition to the heavy-hitters that are Dixon, Craig Richards and Ben UFO, make Junction 2 all the more tantalising, as we look forward to what this weekend of unadulterated electronic music has to offer.

Opening in 2016 as a single day event alongside an abundance of inner-city festivals, Junction 2, organised by the renowned London Warehouse Events (LWE), broke the mould in recreating a club atmosphere in a unique outdoor setting.

Given its line-ups, popularity and proven track record, the announcement of Junction 2’s debut as a two-day festival for 2019 may not be surprising, but its success proves that what is tried and tested is not necessarily what is best, and stands as testament to how it is possible to make a successful festival while still pushing the boundaries of what that festival can be.

No VIPs, no generic plastic tents and no short sets are just a few of the ways in which Junction 2 operates at the cutting edge of music events, as it once again plans something magnificent for electronic music purists this June.

Partnering with a combination of the UK’s best established and independent media outlets, such as DJ Mag, Bristol-based Crack Magazine, and FACT, Junction 2 positions itself at the heart of forward-thinking art, media and design, and has been helped to create an electronic music festival for electronic music lovers, rather than by appealing to vain sensibilities.

Every detail has been considered with the landscape and festivalgoers in mind, and the venue is no different. Taking place on the grounds of Hounslow’s Boston Manor Park, Junction 2 seamlessly merges past and present, with a modern public space at the heart of the local community adjoining Boston Manor, with its rich 17th-century heritage. Here, the park’s natural beauty meets distinctive industrial features to create Junction 2’s unforgettable backdrop.
